When Norwood first began printing on Skybond, we had yet another crazy idea: could this material be used to make a snowboard? Adam and Steve (now our web designer) decided to find out by building one themselves. The project also gave us the chance to test out our new flatbed printer.

They set about designing a snowboard that looked “sick as” while staying true to the “classic Norwood” aesthetic. The result was a board that quickly became coveted for its visual appeal—so much so that everyone wanted one for themselves.
Naturally, we had to put our new creation to the test. We soon discovered that while the board was incredibly fast (in a straight line), turning and stopping were, well, a bit of a challenge. So, we advise against taking the Norwood snowboard to the slopes unless you’re prepared for two broken legs and six weeks off work. It’s kind of like the display hotdog at the Kwik-E-Mart on The Simpsons—it looks great, but you can’t eat it!
Despite its performance limitations on the slopes, the board’s quality was unmatched—fade-resistant and durable—though it’s definitely better suited for display than for snowboarding.
To showcase the board’s aesthetic qualities, we took a four-hour drive from Melbourne to Mt Buller for a photo shoot, contrasting the board’s vivid colours against the stark white snow. Our model, Emme, joined the shoot (pizza and beer were effective incentives), but what we didn’t tell her was that she’d be dressed as a bear! The unique setting, combined with a gingerbread outfit brought along by our photographer Tom, made the shoot a hit with tourists—especially a family of Japanese tourists who jumped in for a few photos. The shoot was one of our most successful, with some even questioning whether the stunning photos were shot in a studio. Rest assured, they were real—just like the snowboard. But remember, this board is for promotional purposes only. We take no responsibility for broken legs or injuries. And no, you definitely can’t eat it!
